When it may be time to replace a boiler

There's rarely one single sign. Usually it's a few of these together:

• The boiler has broken down more than once in the last year or two.
• Parts are becoming difficult or expensive to get hold of.
• Heating bills have crept up while the boiler has got noisier or slower to heat.
• Radiators take a long time to warm up, or hot water runs lukewarm.
• A repair quote is approaching what the appliance itself is worth.
• The appliance can no longer be left in a safe working condition.

Choosing the right boiler

The right new boiler in Glasgow depends on your property rather than on brochures. We look at the number of bathrooms and how they're used, the incoming mains pressure and flow, the existing pipework and flue route, where the boiler can sit, and how much space you can spare.

Output matters too. An oversized boiler cycles on and off and wastes gas; an undersized one struggles on a cold January morning. We size it to the property, not to whatever happens to be in stock.

Combi boiler replacement

A combi heats water on demand, so there's no cylinder or loft tank taking up space. For most flats and family homes with one bathroom, a combi boiler replacement is the straightforward answer and usually the tidiest installation.

System and conventional options

If your household runs two bathrooms at once, or the mains flow simply isn't strong enough for a combi, a system boiler with a hot water cylinder is often the better fit. We also replace older conventional and back boiler setups — that's a bigger job, and we'll be clear about what's involved before you commit.

Our installation process

• Survey. We look at the existing system, the flue route, the gas supply and the pipework, and answer your questions.
• Fixed quote. A written, fixed-price quote covering the boiler, the labour and the extras such as controls, filters and flushing.
• Installation. Old appliance removed, new boiler fitted, system treated and filled, and everything commissioned to manufacturer instructions.
• Handover. We run the system with you, show you the controls, and leave your paperwork and Building Standards notification in order.
