Boiler repairs throughout Paisley
Welsh Plumbing & Heating covers Paisley and the wider Renfrewshire area for gas boiler diagnosis and repair. Housing across the town varies a lot — sandstone tenement flats near the town centre, post-war semis around Gallowhill and Foxbar, and newer estates out towards Ralston and Linwood — and the heating problems that come with them vary too.
Whatever the property, the approach is the same. We look at the appliance, the controls and the system water together, because a boiler that keeps locking out is often reacting to something happening elsewhere in the pipework.
How we diagnose a boiler fault
We start with what the boiler is telling us: the fault code, the system pressure, the gas working pressure and whether the controls are actually calling for heat. From there we take live readings rather than working through parts by trial and error.
Once we know the cause, we explain it in plain terms and confirm the cost before replacing anything. If a part turns out to be obsolete, or the appliance can't be left in a safe working condition, we will tell you that honestly instead of spending your money on a repair that won't last.
Repair or replace your boiler?
A repair usually makes sense where the boiler is reasonably young, parts are still readily available and the fault is a one-off. If breakdowns are becoming a pattern, or the cost of the next repair is creeping towards the value of the appliance, replacement starts to look like the better use of your money.
We will give you the straight answer for your boiler. If replacement is the sensible route, our boiler installation page for Paisley explains how we assess, quote and fit.

Common boiler faults we investigate
No heating or hot water
Cold radiators with working hot water, or the other way round, often points to a diverter valve, pump or control fault.
Boiler losing pressure
A gauge that keeps dropping usually means a small leak, a tired expansion vessel or a passing relief valve.
Boiler leaking
Water around the boiler or under the case needs looking at quickly. We trace the source rather than patching it.
Unusual noises
Banging, kettling, whistling or gurgling normally comes from sludge, scale, trapped air or a failing pump.
Boiler failing to ignite
Ignition lockouts can be the gas supply, electrodes, a frozen or blocked condensate pipe, or a faulty PCB.
Fault and error codes
Tell us the make, model and code when you call and we will usually have a good idea before we arrive.
Radiators not heating properly
Cold at the top, cold at the bottom, or cold upstairs only — each points somewhere different. We balance and treat systems too.
Boiler switching itself off
Intermittent shutdowns are often overheat or flame-loss protection doing its job. The cause is what needs fixing.
Areas around Paisley we cover
As well as Paisley itself, we regularly work in Ralston, Renfrew, Elderslie, Johnstone, Linwood, Bishopton, Bridge of Weir and Kilmacolm, along with Erskine and Houston.
If you are in Renfrewshire and unsure whether we reach you, give us your postcode and we will tell you straight away.

FAQs
Boiler repair FAQs
Straight answers to the questions we're asked most.
Do you cover all of Paisley and the surrounding area?
Yes — Paisley town centre and the surrounding neighbourhoods, plus Ralston, Renfrew, Linwood, Elderslie, Johnstone, Bishopton, Bridge of Weir and Kilmacolm. Give us your postcode if you are not sure.
My boiler has stopped working — what can I check first?
Check the pressure gauge is in its normal range, that the thermostat and timer are calling for heat, that the gas supply is on and whether there is a code on the display. If a single reset does not hold, call us rather than resetting repeatedly.
Why does my boiler keep losing pressure?
Most often a small leak somewhere on the system, a failed expansion vessel or a pressure relief valve that is passing. Topping the system up hides it; we would rather find the cause.
Can a leaking boiler be repaired?
Frequently, yes — many leaks come from a seal, a valve or a corroded fitting that can be replaced. A leaking heat exchanger on an older appliance is a different matter, and we will be upfront if that is what we find.
Can you repair different boiler brands?
We work on most domestic gas boilers, including Worcester, Baxi and Main. Occasionally a part is no longer manufactured, in which case we will explain the options rather than string the job out.
How much does a boiler repair cost?
It depends entirely on the fault and the parts involved, so we would rather quote you than publish a figure that could mislead you. We confirm the cost before doing the work.
